Member Update
June 29, 2008
Dear Fellow Member:I hope everyone is having a great summer! I want to thank everyone who returned the questionnaire. I received 61 returns and we got some very good feedback. First, the golf tournament will not be played because most of you said no to that. Second, the Bull Roast had a resounding yes vote to bring it back! I would love to see the Bull Roast back, but to do this we will need volunteers to run it. So, please call me at 410-377-4049 to volunteer. If I don’t hear from anybody we will not be able to have it. Also, if we do have the roast we must, as an organization, SUPPORT IT! That means not just buying one ticket, but selling tables. Remember our generosity is for the Little Sister’s of the Poor. There were quite a few comments about the price of the luncheon. Since running the luncheon for 12 years I can honestly say we’ve done everything we can to keep the price down. Also, during this time we have upgraded the menu and still have kept the price in line. In the past we have looked at trying to make the luncheon all-inclusive, but the ticket price would cost well over $100.00 per person.
Some of the other comments were regarding the lack of communication from the officer’s. I agree with that, but mailings are extremely expensive. To try to offset this if you have an e-mail address and are not currently receiving e-mail notices from us please e-mail the Webmaster with your e-mail address and we will have it on file so we can e-mail you information and save money on mailings. A couple of comments stood out with me concerning a lack of activities. As you know we stopped the Bull Roast because of a lack of interest, hopefully that will change. We also stopped the golf tournament because the price got too high.
We had a board meeting last week and Tim McCully, our Admission Chairman has come up with the following dates and places to have a membership drive and Happy Hour! The first date is Thursday July 17th at AN POINTIN STIL at 6:00 PM. The second will be held on Monday September 25th at JAMES JOYCE at 6:00 pm. The third will be a pub crawl called The IRISH INVADE BALTIMORE on SATURDAY OCTOBER 25TH. This event will be a bus trip to 7 local Irish Pubs. We will leave from An Poitin Stil at 2:00pm. Please call Tim McCully at 410-668-8180 to let him know which of these events you will be attending. Please bring a potential new member with you to all 3 HAPPY HOURS!!! The bus trip will have a cost, but the price has not been determined yet.
There will be an Irish Day at the Races on Saturday, August 23rd from 12-5 at the Timonium Fairgrounds. Please call John McMaster 443-986-2205 for tickets. If you did not get to go last year put this on your calendar! We had a great time!
Remember to please call me to volunteer for the Bull Roast and if you have any suggestions or concerns.
Sincerely,
Bill McNamara
President
